NUM_NID should be declared in file crypto/objects/obj_dat.h, which is
automatically generated. What does it look like on your system?
Deleting it and running make again might help, otherwise run the Perl
script used to generate it by hand (you'll find it in
crypto/objects/Makefile.ssl, or in the top level Makefile.ssl if
you're using a recent snapshot).
