BTW, what should the $shared_extension field be? Should it be the
shared library extension without the version number or with? If it's
with, then under HP-UX, SHARED_LIBS_LINK_EXTS gets the '.so.[blah]'
while HP-UX has shared libraries with extension '.sl'. And, if it's
without, how do shared libraries under HP-UX get the version number
tacked on to the name?
