I have committed the change to a "555" default several hours ago.
As of now, I did not see any other solution, as there is no system
dependent setting for file modes available.
There is a field for a system dependant shared library build in Configure, so
either this could be violated (bad idea as it would poison Makefile.org)
or we do need more fields for the system dependencies in Configure...
Actually, 555 is a workable solution and there is time left to think about
it before 0.9.7 is released.
