As your first step,you can look into the samples.
To understand the SSL connection establishment and configuration, you can
try to compile the s_client.c and s_server.c in apps. If you are interested
in the crypto stuff,speed.c is a good sample, if you are interested in
certificate and key management, try req.c, rsa.c and ca.c. You
can trace into any functions you want to know more about it.
before you jump into the source-code, make sure you have specification of SSL2.0
3.0 and TLS1.0 on hand,if you want to study the stuff which make up the
libeay32.lib, the specification of ASN.1 (that is X.208, or newer x.680),X.509
is also needed.
