The latest 0.9.7 snapshots and main snapshots contain support for
64-bit AIX.  The only thing missing is code for 'config' to detect a
64-bit environment, do you have that?

Please try the latest snapshots and tell us if they correspond to what
you have found out.  Configure contains an extra field for extra flags
to ar :-).
