Unfortunately, that patch does tons of type casts. Instead, the
functions that need it should be changed to use size_t instead of
unsigned int. That's MORE work, but it's also the right way to do
things.

I've tried to tweak a copy of my usual Linux environment to simulate
the thing that makes compiling on IA64 (the 64-bit size_t) special. I
haven't been very successful yet, and other things have had higher
priority.
If someone would toss an Itanium machine with that SDK at me, I'm
definitely up for giving it some consistent work. Or if it would be
possible for me to access said Itanium remotely, using telnet or ssh,
that would work equally well.
