After re-reading the original post, I'm pretty sure we are/were seeing the same thing and so the patch I've committed should fix this. If someone has a better approach, we can always change later but this ensures that something is in CVS that addresses the problem. Please try out the patch (or get the next nightly CVS snapshot) and let me know if there are any problems. BTW, this is only committed to the head of CVS so far, I'd need more feedback before considering changing the stable branches.
