Proposed fix will be available in next HEAD snapshot. Idea is to consider $OBJECT_MODE environment variable at ./config time and override it at build time. Test ftp://ftp.openssl.org/snapshot/openssl-SNAP-20040428.tar.gz as it becomes available. A.
