As this is essentially problem beyond our control, compiler bug in particular, I close the ticket with code update allowing for no-sha0 option and following update to FAQ: 3. Reconfigure the toolkit with no-sha0 option to leave SHA0 out. It should not be used and is not used in SSL/TLS nor any other recognized protocol in either case. To test the option on site grab ftp://ftp.openssl.org/snapshot/openssl-0.9.7-stable-SNAP-20050110.tar.gz [or later] as it becomes available.
