'make test' never works. in the EC test, it runs a long time (tracing the output gives multiple gigabytes of text, it seems to take on the order of an hour or more). the failure is a memory fault of some kind. After I confirm this isn't a known problem I'll run it again and post the last bit of the output.
I've tried this on multiple intel boxes (ibm thinkpad, others) running fedora core 3 and centos 4 (linux) this still fails in beta 8.
