We use the following gcc flags for our internal programs

----------------------------------------------------------------------
-Wmissing-prototypes -Wcomment -Wformat -Wimplicit -Wmain -Wmultichar
  -Wswitch -Wshadow -Wtrigraphs -Werror -Wchar-subscripts
  -Wstrict-prototypes -Wreturn-type -Wpointer-arith -W -Wunused
  -Wno-unused-parameter -Wuninitialized
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Does 0.9.8 fix these problems?

a recent snapshot of OpenSSL_0.9.8-stable should work with the
above compiler flags (at least it works for me using a gcc 3.3.1).
