Credo che sei italiano quindi ti rispondo in italiano. Il problema fondamentale di OpenSSL sta proprio nella documentazione.
E' scarsa e mal ridotta. Dovresti "procurarti" qualche libro sul TLS programming oppure SSL programming ti potrebbero essere di grande aiuto come sono stati per me.
