Richard,

I still believe in fairy tales and the power of non-funded, contributed,
open source development.

You have the idea and you are responsible for the VMS code health and we
are at least three who want to do the job.

This is not that huge work as the code itself compiles... just the build
procedure needs to be redesigned and updated.

Please, organize the work and split among us.

You said you have an AXP.
I run at home both AXP and VAX (www.polarhome.com) and have access to
IA64 environment at work.

Let do the job... together with your competent leading we can develop a
permanent solution in "no time".

Thank you.

Regards,
Z

Subject: Re: OpenVMS build issues

I'll be honest with you; I've wanted to redo the whole build system
for VMS so it can be automatically generated from the Unix makefiles,
the same way the build system for Windows is made. I can see some
common building blocks that this would be generated from, similar to
the crap that's repeated over all the current build scripts. It's a
pretty big job...

The only thing I've lacked it *funded* time. I only have so much
non-funded time to spend...

Cheers,
Richard
