Had a little look-see regarding mingw:

which regards with __try1/__except1 and gcc optimizations, plus some
informative stuff (at least it was for me):

which makes me wonder whether we should trust __try1/__except1 to work
or make it conditional to some mingw release version when we add it to
OpenSSL.
