API to set rekey limit?

Hello.
 
Is there an API call to configure a SSL session such that it will initiate a 
rekey after <n> number of bytes?  Or is it always set to a fixed amount based 
on the length of the key?  (I believe it is 2^(L/4) where L is the length of 
the key.)
