A question using PKCS5_PBKDF2_HMAC was recently asked on Stack Overflow. Currently, there is no documentation on the function.
The PKCS5_PBKDF2_HMAC.pod is new. It is based on the documentation for EVP_BytesToKey. EVP_BytesToKey was updated to cross reference to PKCS5_PBKDF2_HMAC.
