So they've updated the software -- I now checked again,
and
openssl s_client -bugs -connect banking.wellsfargo.com:443
*does* work (withouth -ssl2), but it automatically negotiates
SSL 2 (the -bugs switch is necessary, or you get "SSL2_READ:bad mac decode".
