No one said every server needs a sound card.  You only need one machine
in a noisy location with a sound card.

I was refering to my own workstation which _is_ in a busy office 
and which my CA box (which is in a nice quiet locked room) is able to gather
sound samples from with no pain.

My workstations and servers are sun's and thus have audio support built in.
Its a non-issue.  Also given that you only need one sound card in a nice
busy location - it is not a big deal.

You mean for them to hear.  Quite true, but still largely irrelevant.
