Your analysis and solution seem quite correct to me.  As a matter of
fact, if you look in crypto/mem_dbg.c, you'll see one place where this
issue ahs been solved in exactly the manner you propose.

The only thing missing is your patch.  I can't see it anywhere.  Could
you please resend?
