Hi I am using openSSL for CA, but only for research purposes. I am not sure whether it will turn out be a good choice for a corporation but it is good enough for reseacrh purposes. I was given to understand that OpenSSL CA wasn't mean't to be a full scale one. So i would suggest trying OpenCA.
I am actually using both microsoft certification services and openSSL together.
