Doesn't it also say this, directly after?
No working pod2man found. Consider installing a new version.
As a workaround, we'll use a bundled old copy of pod2man.pl.

There was trouble with the bundled pod2man script. At the same time,
pod2man bundled with some versions of Perl are buggy as well...
If the two lines I quoted above are showing as well, there whouldn't
be any problem...
