Robert,

try :

openssl rsa -in private-key -out
private-key.no-passphrase

be very careful with this though.  ANyone who gets his
hands on priviate-key.no-passphrase can more easily
spoof you, so if you have this on an nfs shared mount,
or you are accessing the file via any non secure
method, anyone on your network now has potential
access to it.
