Hi everybody !

I've experienced a curious problem with SSL when it is linked statically.

I have the OpenSSL library linked with a virtual machine (executing 'virtual' programs produced by some experimental compiler). This has been used (amongh other things) as a HTTP/HTTPS server. The virtual machine has been developped under Linux and runs under Linux. When the virtual machine is linked against dynamic libraries (.so) everything works fine. When it is linked against static libraries (.a) everything still works fine except that the HTTPS server cannot be reached by Internet Explorer (it can still be reached by other browsers).

Of course, Internet Explorer has many problems (pray for it !). Nevertheless, it seems quite strange that linking against either dynamic or static libraries does not produce the same behavior. Has anybody an idea for explaining this fact ?

Best Regards.

Alain.
