revoke option?

I'm reading the 'SSL Certificates HOWTO', by F. Martin. In the 
'Certificate Management' chapter it tells how to  'revoke' the 
certificate by this command:

openssl -revoke newcert.pem,
but this command does'nt seem to work and -revoke does not appear in the 
manual page ether.
