SSL in the kernel? (Do I understand you correct here? or Do you mean library for a system running the linux 2.x kernel?) [The remaining stuff only if you meant in-kernel] There are cryptographic routines in the linux kernel like symmetric ciphers, hash, and some CRC functions. It's part of the vanilla kernel and you can select them via config options.
