This post is a followup question directly related to a post by basker made back on May 16 2012. In the post he requested assistance on compiling the FIPS object module. The reply indicated that the build sequence should use incore instead of incore2 after which he responded that everything worked fine. I'm a college of basker's and have moved his entire build sequence to other machines. His build process completed successfully on a machine running Fedora 15 on a 32 bit x86 processor. I also moved that entire exact build process onto a machine running Fedora 17 on a 64 bit x86 processor. The fips build process fails on the Fedora 17 system. I believe the most salient output from the build process is as follows:
: : : ^[[0marmv4-pp003-linux-uclibc-gcc-bin: ca17e50b3d6c0b34e9493627d348c3604f03e05e": No such file or directory^M ^[[0m<command-line>: warning: missing terminating " character^M ^[[0mfips/../fips/fips_premain.c:^[[0m^[[35m71:^[[0m^[[1;31m error: missing terminating " character^[[0m^M ^[[0mfips/../fips/fips_premain.c:^[[0m^[[35m71:^[[0m^[[1;31m error: expected expression before ';' token^[[0m^M ^[[34mfips/../fips/fips_premain.c: In function 'FINGERPRINT_premain':^M ^[ : : : I'm new with working with FIPS but from the the output it almost seems that the FIPS build scripts, when run on the Fedora 17 machine, somehow take the digest generated by fips_standalone_sha1 as a source file to be compiled. Note that armv4-pp003-linux-uclibc-gcc-bin is the ARM cross compiler in this case. As I mentioned, if I run the exact same build scripts on the Fedora 15 machine it completes successfully. Is there any known susceptibility of the FIPS scripts (ie. Configure, or Makefile etc) to the change in OS or processor architecture. I've spent a bunch of time trying to resolve this issue but can't seem to find anything directly related to it in many searches. I did come across one other person (Leona from Italy) who had asked the same question and had the same condition (i.e. FIPS scripts trying to compile a digest) but there was no response to her question.
