Typically its the not-very-interesting case of changing
the size from 0 to the real size after the data has uploaded.
That happens before the image state transitions to 'active'.
Do u know what cases the 'size' or 'checksum' needs to be modified?
I'd hope for immutability in these 2 things.

Without the 'size' pinned down an operator can't necessarily trust the
current value.
