By way of explanation, it's a combination of things: personal items I've put off too long (startup life, right?) and new responsibilities at Nebula (which will keep me at least partly engaged in OpenStack, just not on the Horizon side). All in all I hold myself to a high standard in anything I do, and looking at the next six months I saw my attention being split too many ways. At the same time I saw strong people in Horizon Core and knew the project would be in good hands so I chose to ensure that everyone and everything gets the attention it deserves, even if not all from me personally. In truth I probably care about Horizon more than I ought to. It's been my baby for the last 2+ years, long before I was PTL officially. If anything, the reasons are all good ones overall, I just have to make the right decision for both myself and the project. In the interim David Lyle will be the acting PTL. The Horizon core team has all weighed in with their confidence in his abilities, and he has confirmed his ability and interest in doing so. There will be a nomination period in coming weeks to determine the PTL for the full release cycle, should anyone else wish to run for the job as well. Thierry will announce more information about that soon. Rest assured, you're not rid of me entirely; I'm just making a decision to focus in on other areas for a time. Horizon is blessed to have other phenomenal candidates willing and able to lead, and I would rather see the project in the hands of someone who can devote their full attention and energy to it.
