I wanted to go the other way as it's slightly less impactful. Most people grok
that '-alt' == '-2'.  if we redirect from 2 ->  alt it's only a few people
that transparently get redirected.

If we do it the other way around everyone already in -alt needs to move.

I think it's a one-time cost to solve the confusion over the long run,
rather than keep the -alt non-standard construct forever. People have to
join new meeting channels regularly, it's not as if you'd "lose" people
in the process.
