That's right. Some of the distros are starting to split the version of python they use for their operating system tools from the packages applications use, so the "default" version of Python isn't necessarily what we care about -- as an application, we're not supposed to use that version. The important thing is that it is possible to get Python 3.4 or 3.5 packages for all of the major distros through normal and supported mechanisms. So, there is no longer any reason to use distro support as a reason to put off porting.
