Hi everyone, At the last TC meeting, the newly-elected (and continuing) TC members has been discussing the future election periods. With the Design Summit functions being split between the OpenStack Summit and the Project Teams Gathering, the current wording in the TC charter around election (which uses "Design Summit" and "Summit" interchangeably) is no longer valid and requires a change.
As a result of that discussion a proposal was made, with a focus on limiting the impact of the change, avoid the need to modify Foundation bylaws, and introduce some flexibility in vote organization. See: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/385951/ The TL;DR: is that PTL elections would continue to be organized around development cycle boundaries, while TC elections would continue to be organized relative to OpenStack Summit dates. The net effect is that TC elections would now be organized separately from PTL elections (rather than run just the week after). Another consequence is that since we'd continue to elect PTLs around development cycles (and Ocata being a short cycle), the Ocata PTLs would be renewed early (vote early February).
