Hi Jon, It is our goal to migrate the Dashboard to the OpenStack API. There are a few things in the EC2 API that the dashboard uses that aren't yet (or are about to be) in the OpenStack API. As soon as there is parity, we will begin the effort of moving everything over.
Most OpenStack tools available today are based around the OpenStack API, and the goal is to use it for all new efforts.
