Hi, I've keystone at least running on Ubuntu 11.10 with the openstack sru updates ppa [1]. Is the service running on your system? I'd check with $ sudo netstat -ntaupe | grep 5000 and $ sudo netstat -ntaupe | grep 35357
Both should be served by a keystone process.
