I've done both a manual installation and an automated one. Manual installation 
gives you a good grounding in how all of the pieces fit together. But be 
prepared to set aside a fair bit of time. I also used Mirantis Fuel 
(https://fuel.mirantis.com) recently and the deployment went without a hitch. 
It's definitely not aimed at creating test environments, though I guess you 
could. Fuel is meant to deploy real OpenStack installations for production.
