With Turris Omnia shipping now, I've updated the instructions below:

The bad news is, despite my prototype test feedback from March, it still
can't run openSUSE out of the box, and neither U-Boot nor .dts are upstream.

The good news is, me lying sick and bored in bed the weekend, I've once
again figured out how to work around most of the issues, including how
to avoid a new watchdog reset and how to boot a patched U-Boot via UART!

For people not wanting to dual-boot, I noticed that the documentation
for the OpenWrt Turris OS features Tumbleweed as LXC guest template:

https://www.turris.cz/doc/en/howto/lxc

Not having heard from Michal, I'm testing a linux-next based .dts I've
quickly put together - the WAN GbE port (eth2) works for me, like most
other bits; only the Marvell 88E6176 switch doesn't seem to be upstream.

As mentioned previously, this U-Boot fork has support for btrfs - in
case anyone wants to forward-port those patches for use on other boards
with our distro u-boot packages. :)

Have a lot of fun,

Andreas
