So SUSE kernel should theoretically work, good news!

Why not, I may try. Not sure if a can do it, but trying doesn't hurt :-)

I also ordered I VIM1 board (S905x), so mainline U-Boot should work on
it, and so openSUSE too, no? I will try also.

I hope to have my boards just before my next trip to Nuremberg!
