Leap is using a 4.4 based kernel, Tumbleweed 4.12. Lots of things may
have changed in between... It would help to know whether Leap 42.2
worked or not (also 4.4 based) to see if this is a regression. If not,
you could try to bisect, and if it's just a small bug fix you could open
a Bugzilla ticket to get it backported. Otherwise I'd suggest to stay
with Tumbleweed.
