IMHO it is more important that packages in openSUSE:Factory:Contrib build for Factory - it has been decided that builds for released versions are unsupported. > I have fixed a couple of build failures where the fix was simple and obvious. > But in other cases, I hope maintainers can provide build fixes which are not > too invasive. So far the policy with broken packages was that these (and their dependencies) are not copied to openSUSE:$ver:Contrib when such project is branched. On the other hand, I don't see any reason why abandoned packages should stay in openSUSE:Factory:Contrib... > > Some are definite candidates for a drop: > > > xlogmaster - missing gtk-devel dropped > > workrave - needs kde3sdk - move to KDE3 ? > > tangerine - needs beagle-devel > > antiword - needs glib-devel, but in this case antiword is still useful for > other packages No objections from my side, FWIW... > In addition, these packages fail: > > https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?arch_i586=1&defaults=0&failed=1&project=openSUSE%3AFactory%3AContrib&repo_openSUSE_11_3=1 > > The objective of this exercise was to try an avoid bit rot of packages in > Contrib which may have been submitted for earlier versions, but now fail on > with the latest versions of openSUSE. Perhaps you might want to resurrect this or something similar: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-contrib/2009-08/msg00261.html Or even better, this thread: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2010-05/msg00021.html Unfortunately, I have no longer time for Contrib apart from maintaining my own packages.
