I hope that we can try something to see if this is the cause or not. Can you close all browsers, remove the xine-browser-plugin package and then start chromium. My feeling at the moment is that Chromium is having issues with this xine-browser-plugin. If chromium works after removing this package, then I can report the bug upstream. If not, then maybe we get some more information.
