I must agree with houghi, I haven't seen Gnome crash often, I've seen the odd 
gdesklet freeze if the machine is left on for multiple days, but apart from 
that...

The only real problem I've had with Gnome is its penchent of opening icon 
sized windows for things that would normally go in the task tray area...
