Yes.

For (rpm) packages, just the package will be removed.
For patterns, we're looking for proposals on how to do it.

We would like to handle patterns as 'groups' so when you remove a pattern
all members of that group are removed as well.

But such semantics might not be intuitive.
Consider the following case:
You're using (maybe unwittingly) a specific functionality/application on
a regular basis. Over time, your systems gets crowded and you decide
to clean it up a bit. You do this by removing 'unneeded' patterns.
Afterwards your above mentioned application is gone and you might
not know to which pattern it belonged (or which package it was).
