Are you really sure? ;-) At least rug runs SuSEconfig after each transaction, and it's _painful_ compared to YaST because other than YaST, it doesn't show what it does, so there's no way to guess how long it will take. Concerning the alternative package managers like smart, there was just in this very moment a report about it: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=199925 At least SuSEconfig.automake should be called in the %post script of those few packages that really need it instead of each transaction. This would also solve the problem of alternative package managers not running SuSEconfig after each transaction.
