So that's the fastest way. :-p What about the expected way, in Kcontrol?

There is no "Favorites" here. There is a "My Favorites", which is not where I
would expect to find basic setup/configuration. Actually, anything
preconfigured to windoz-speak the word "My" automatically makes my brain say
look elsewhere.

Now that I look at that windoz style panel I see "Configure Desktop" (not
control center, not kcontrol, not personal settings), but I had already:

1-right clicked the desktop in order to configure the desktop, expecting to
configure the desktop, not the menus, and as expected, saw nothing about menus
there
2-right clicked the taskbar, where the menu starter finds its home, expecting
to find menu configuration as well as other taskbar item configuration, but
found nothing about menus

I also see that I wouldn't have seen. The menu choices are barely big enough to
see. The subtitles are much too small and faint.

Last time I tried "search" in KDE on SUSE it took 3.5 hours while it built a
database. That was quite some time ago, and I've never again attempted search
from any KDE menu.
