But not the entire folder, just /var/lib/zmd/zmd.db!

I cannot remember a single problem report where deleting more than this file 
helped more than deleting this file only.

Yes, zmd on 10.2 detects a corrupted database as such and handles it gracefully.

But there is no such thing as "ZEN & Co.", Zenworks = zmd + rug + zen-updater. 
These are different programs with different bugs ;-)
