The opensuse-updater applet, KDE version, developed in Google summer of code
is an applet supporting 2 methods to get updates.

The first one is via zenworks, which is pretty similar to the applet used in
gnome (zen-updater).

It was extended to support another backend "direct system access" which is
simple and lightweight and uses yast for the actual installation and does not
require linking to zypp or yast or anywhing.

If anybody wants to:

- write a program which mails somebody when a critical update is there.
- add a backend to zen-updater which uses the system directly
- write a cim provider wich lists the updates available for a system
- show the updates in the PIM summary page :-)
- whatever
