In 10.2Beta2 and 10.1Beta1 before that, I have been unable to get to the
DVD via YaST. Media Check works
openSUSE-10.2-CD-download-10.2
Medium: CD1
Size: 4177608 kB
Any other operation, e.g installing software says Mounting failed for
cd:///?devices=/dev/hdc on Mounting point:
I have all the links in /dev for cdrom, dvd, dvdrecorder and cdrecorder.
the DVD will also automount as /media/dvd or /media/hdc depending on
which I have in /etc/fstab. kded also sees it and will mount it as
system:/media/hdc.
Trying to add an installation source, e.g /ISO where the DVD ISO lives,
or pointing to the actual ISO, just gives this error:-
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unable to create installation source from URL 'iso:/?=ISO&url=dir:///'
Details
Specified path '/' is and not allowed as media source: dir:///
Try again?
Yes No

Trying to install additional packages from the DVD:
===================================================
Insert '20061111-010626 CD1'
URL cd:///?devices=/dev/hdc
Failed to mount cd:///?devices=/dev/hdc on:
Mounting media failed

1. Can anyone tell me where YaST is supposed to be trying to mount the
DVD or how to give it a mount path? It used to be /media/dvd.
2.What is wrong with the paths given above when I have
/ISO/openSUSE-10.2-Beta2-DVD-i386.iso and
/ISO/CD1/openSUSE-10.2-Beta2-DVD-i386.iso
Either I'm missing a trick or this stuff just doesn't work. Bug #220206
also submitted.
Thanks and Regards
Sid.
