Hi,

I have an 10.1 test partition that I intended to dedicate to testing the
update to 10.2 RC1, but it failed.

As add on source, I enter:

  <ftp://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/>

I get the error (hand copied):

  <Unknown source type xxx
ftp://ftp.opensuse.org/%2fpub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/>

I select retry, get a different bigger dialog box (the one that allows for
login/pass/anonymous), choose http this time, and I get almost the same
error, less the %2f:

  <Unknown source type xxx
ftp://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/>

I switch to a text console, and I try "ping ftp.opensuse.org", getting
"unknown host...". I then type "ifconfig", and I see that only the "lo"
network interface is active.

How come? How can I add an add on URL source, if the network has not being
activated yet, and I see nowhere where I can activate it?

(The 10.1 install,, that I had run previously to create a new test
partition with this update test in mind, had detected the network
fine: dns, connectivity test, et all)

I was told here that this type of add on source was working, last october,
by Andreas Hanke
(<http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2006-10/msg00355.html>).

Also, Andreas Jaeger says it is possible, but in a way I do not understand
how to do: <http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2006-10/msg00334.html>
