In that case, i would look for a BIOS- update, and a flash utility to
install it.
You have to make a start-up disk, regular, and make a back-up from the
old bios first.

But if you look around, there will be easy readme's coming with the
flash-utility, so there will not be a problem.
Just look for your mainboard, and find the updates from the vendor.

(i did these updates many times, and for some machines it realy made a
great difference...)
