I can confirm that I have experienced the same problem (and had to edit
menu.lst manually) at least the last couple of kernel updates on 10.2 i386.
Now I'm running Linux version 2.6.18.8-0.3-default ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
(gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)) #1 SMP Tue Apr 17
