You use the propietary drivers? In my case, sax2 do'nt work right with the propietary drivers of my video card. I I use "sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx" (after configured via aticonfig), later in kde I got a black screen in kde. I must leave so as configured by aticonfig, and the works right.
